Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Maintenance Helper - Crush/Convey at its Sierrita operations near Tucson, Arizona. You will assist with maintenance and repair of heavy equipment in a safety‑driven, 24/7 operation, supporting journeyman mechanics and ensuring uptime.

The role requires ability to understand English, completion of required competencies, and willingness to pass training and assessments. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered, including health and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must have completed required academic and practical competencies and demonstrate aptitude.
• Pass a written assessment where required, based on skills/abilities, knowledge and safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist with maintenance and repair of heavy equipment including haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire and track dozers, front‑end loaders and motor graders.
• Assist Journeyman Mechanics with maintenance on transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials, pumps, motors, torque converters, final drives and other heavy equipment systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities on heavy equipment.
• Complete Work Orders and maintenance documentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Perform housekeeping duties and area checks.
• May operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

What You Bring To Freeport

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$21.00 - $27.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
