Job summary

This position is assigned to the Fleet & Family Readiness Division, Navy Region Hawaii; Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Intramurals Department (N921); located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, HI. The primary purpose is to assist in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and other related trades.

Candidates should demonstrate basic trade KSAs, familiarity with common hand and powered tools, and the ability to obtain a valid state driver's license.

• Familiarity with safe use of common hand and powered tools.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the performance of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and related trades.
• Work under close supervision and perform simple tasks after detailed instructions.
• Operate and handle materials with safety, including lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional heavier loads as required.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the performance of one or more trade practices associated with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, and other related trades.

A qualified candidate must possess: Skills and Knowledge: Basic knowledge of trade practices sufficient to complete simple tasks using common skills. Familiarity with safe use of common hand and powered tools. Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid state driver's license. Responsibility: Works under the direct and constant supervision of a higher-grade maintenance worker/mechanic. Performs simple tasks independently after receiving detailed instructions. Physical Effort: Requires prolonged standing; stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. Occasionally may handle materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside, and is exposed to dirt, paint vapors and fumes, possible electric shock, scrapes, burns and cuts.
