Job summary

Jobvite, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Harvest Supervisor to lead the Maintenance Department and protect asset health on the harvest floor, offal, hot boxes and cattle pens. You will coordinate with operations, food safety, and safety teams on plant initiatives and continuous improvement.

The role requires supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, with a focus on preventative maintenance and project work. A Millwright or Electrician license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3 years supervision in maintenance/operations of a process facility in a fast-paced unionized setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of continuous process manufacturing and equipment overhaul.
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics and piping repairs on processing equipment.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Willingness to work afternoon shifts and weekends.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises maintenance personnel; plans, leads, coordinates, and assigns work orders and preventive maintenance.
  • Responds to operational maintenance concerns to minimize production interruptions.
  • Maintains records of operations and maintenance per company policies.
  • Oversees repairs by staff and contractors, ensuring quality and deadlines.
  • Plans expenditures within the department budget.
  • Upholds safety, health, and environmental policies and regulatory compliance.

Job description

The Maintenance Harvest Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance Department and report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.

The position will be responsible for maintaining health of assets in harvest floor, offal , Hot boxes and cattle pens by using an effective maintenance program.

Cross-functional teamwork is critical to success in the role in working with personnel from operations, maintenance, food safety, and safety on plant initiatives and continuous improvement.

Areas of Responsibility:
  • Supervises plant maintenance personnel, and is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, controlling coordinating, scheduling and assigning all work requirements associated with breakdown, preventative maintenance, predictive technologies, project and day to day work orders while ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations in maintenance.
  • Provide immediate response to operational maintenance concerns and communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in all areas to minimize interruptions in production.
  • Maintain accurate records of management, operations and maintenance through compliance with company policies, procedures and property loss programs.
  • Supervises repairs/projects carried out by Maintenance personnel and Contractors and ensures the quality of their work and their adherence to deadlines through rigorous follow-ups;
  • Plans and controls expenditures in accordance with the operating budget of the department;
  • Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures while ensuring compliancy with all regulations pertaining to the maintenance department are met at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Educational background in mechanical or engineering technology (diploma or degree), coupled with a Millwright and/or Electrician license (or equivalent) is considered an asset.
  • Three years supervision experience in the maintenance and/or operation of process manufacturing facility in a fast paced unionized environment is preferred.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In depth knowledge of a continuous process manufacturing facility and strong experience with equipment overhaul, machining, pneumatics, hydraulics and, piping repairs with maintenance of processing equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, TPM, etc.)
  • Experience driving Preventative Maintenance Systems
  • Willingness and flexible to work in shift as scheduled (afternoon shift/weekends)
  • Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills
  • Excel interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows and MS Office suite
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
  • Base salary range of$67,200 - $82,687
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
