Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist on the Project Crew for River Valley Ingredients in Scranton, AR. The role involves welding, piping, mechanical repairs, and heavy equipment operation in an industrial setting.

Base pay ranges from $20.35 to $29.10 per hour, depending on experience. Shift is A Shift – Sun to Wednesday Days, with travel to other facilities as needed and the ability to work extended hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Weld, cut, and perform basic electrical work as part of maintenance tasks.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and replace motors, pumps, and piping.
  • Operate cranes, lifts, and other heavy equipment to support maintenance.
  • Fabricate catwalks, handrails, and equipment supports as needed.
  • Document work and communicate findings to supervision.

Description

This position will perform task involving welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing and replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water and steam pipes, lines and systems in an industrial environment while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks

Skills in the following area will be considered in filling this position: Welding, Hydraulics, Power Transmissions, Pneumatics, Fabrication, Pipe Fitting, Rigging, Basic Electrical, Mechanical Layout and Plumbing. Other duties as delegated by management such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, equipment removal and installation, structural fabrication, pipe fitting, heavy equipment set up. Ability to use various electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment to include operation of cranes and lifts. Must have suitable knowledge of removal, installation and setup of rendering equipment, to include but not limited to conveyors, pumps, cookers, hydrolyzers, presses, power transmission components, steam traps, ramps, catwalks and piping. All other duties assigned by Supervision. Must have the ability to weld, use cutting tools such as cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinders, etc. Must have the ability to perform basic electrical work and use basic electrical tools including a digital multi-meter, wire/unwire 3 phase motors, basic single-phase terminations etc. Must have the ability to operate heavy industrial equipment such as crane, boom lift, scissor lift, telehandler, forklift etc. Must have fabrication experience to build catwalks, handrails, transitions, equipment supports etc. Must have rigging experience/certifications. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to withstand heat and cold and work in adverse weather condition. Must exhibit a cooperative attitude. Must be able to lift more than 60 lbs. Must have the ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and regulations. Must have the ability to document information. Must have the ability to communicate with others written and verbally.

Requirements

1 plus years of accumulative Industrial Maintenance or Millwright skills required. Must be willing to work A, B, C or D shift. Must be able and willing to work weekends, and any/all other hours as needed to complete the project. Travel will be required to complete jobs at other facilities. Must be able to work more than 12 hours if needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age. Applicants who have worked for Tyson three times will not be considered. Minimum 180 days waiting period from previous Tyson employment.
