Job summary

Tyson Foods in Waverly, NE is seeking a Maintenance Generalist for 1st shift. Responsibilities include maintaining facility and rolling stock, performing repairs, and assisting with snow removal. Occasional overtime/weekend work is required, with back-up duties for wastewater treatment and sanitation operations.

A valid driver’s license and ability to obtain forklift certification are needed. Minimum 6 months in industrial maintenance or related education is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Maintain building and equipment while following safety guidelines.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock operation and standard mechanical tasks.
  • Basic plumbing and lighting repair skills.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • General repair and maintenance of building, forklifts, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and all other equipment or buildings owned by the company
  • Maintain company grounds including snow/ice removal and lawn work

## Maintenance Generalist 1st Shift Waverly NEApplylocations: Waverly Plant - Waverly, Nebraskatime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todaytime left to apply: End Date: August 27, 2026 (30 days left to apply)job requisition id: R0475387**Job Details:**Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.**Pay range:**$24.00 - $33.65 (depending on experience) + $1.50 attendance bonus 2nd Shift Differential $1.50/hr3rd Shift differential $5.00/hr**Hours: Monday through Friday,****occasional overtime and weekend work** 1st Shift 6:00 am – 2:30 pm2nd shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm3rd shift: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am**SUMMARY**: This position is responsible for operating rolling stock, and general building equipment maintenance inclusive of snow removal in the winter, and acting as back-up to the waste water treatment, positions as needed.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:** * General repair and maintenance of building, forklifts, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and all other equipment or buildings owned by the company* Maintain company grounds inclusive of snow/ice removal, lawn work* Maintenance and safe operation of all company rolling stock;* Repair and replacement of facility light bulbs may be required* Repair of facility plumbing needs as required* Back-up Waste Water Treatment Plant operator* Back up Sanitation Operator sweeping designated areas* Trash removal from the facility* Maintain the cleanliness of the truck sheds, loafing shed, and maintenance shop* Maintain the bone yard for cleanliness* Assist with roof repairs and clean-up* All other essential duties as directed by the shift maintenance supervisors/lead**QUALIFICATIONS:** * Ability to carry out essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, within safety guidelines* Ability to operate all rolling stock efficiently, within safety guidelines* Ability to efficiently use hand tools and trades type tools, to provide maintenance of facility as required* Some mechanical background required* Some knowledge of vehicle maintenance including preventative and scheduled maintenance.* Basic plumbing skills* General knowledge of light fixtures* Valid driver’s license* Be able to obtain an operator’s license for forklift, skid loader, and pallets jack* Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergency situations as required**Education and/or Experience:** * High school diploma or equivalent preferred* Associates degree or equivalent in mechanical trade preferred**Communication Skills:** * Must be able to communicate within the department and understand directions* Must be able to read, write and in order to maintain records and communicate well**Physical Requirements / Environment:** * Stand/Walk: Continuously (at least 8 hours a day)* Occasionally (1-3 hours a day); bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull* Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs), Occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.) Rarely (over 50 lbs. with assistance)* Continuously working around moving machinery, both inside and out with changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust and fumes, occasionally working on a ladder at unprotected heights, around and amongst dead birds and a strong chicken odor**Requirements: 6 month work history or participant of any industrial maintenance educational program. maintenance experience preferred.****Relocation Assistance Eligible:**No**Work Shift:**1ST SHIFT (United States of America)**Certain roles at Tyson require background checks.
