Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a General Maintenance technician for 1st shift. You will troubleshoot, repair, and provide technical support for machine systems while maintaining safety standards and PPE usage.

The role requires 1 year of maintenance experience, ability to operate forklifts, and willingness to pass health and drug screenings. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, service on forklifts, shag trucks, and ammonia refrigeration systems, plus responding to calls and ensuring quality

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year maintenance experience within the immediate past 2 years.
• Ability to pass health assessment and drug screening.
• Must be able to operate forklifts and other PIT equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
• Maintain and service forklift and power industrial trucks including battery changes.
• Maintain and service shag trucks and ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Respond to service calls from operations and communicate issues to leadership.
• Ensure safety processes are followed and participate in annual food defense training.
• Operate PIT and perform physical tasks as required.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time with a sense of balance.Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop, squat, and carry (70) lbs or more up to (120) lbs.May work with corrective lenses if vision problems.May be provided PPE for additional hearing protection as needed.Must pass post offer health assessment and drug screening.ResponsibilitiesComplete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned in a timely manner.Complete regular training and testing.Maintain and service forklift and power industrial trucks including battery changes using all required PPE.Maintain and service shag trucks.Maintain and service ammonia refrigeration systems using all required PPE.Answer service calls from the operations team in a timely manner.Management and cleanup of hazmat spills.Communicate effectively and timely to leadership as you encounter difficulties or discrepancies.Other duties include ensuring that all product quality, authenticity and legality procedures are followed and completing Annual Food Defense Training.Ensure safety processes are being followed consistently promoting a safe work environment and performing other responsibilities as needed.Clean as you go throughout your work shift.Must be able to operate PIT including forklifts and shag trucks.Other duties as assigned.EnvironmentTeam members may spend extended times in damp and cold environments with temperatures ranging from 10 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. (Up to 12 hours)Team members may spend extended times in inclement weather outdoors. (Up to 12 hours)Team members may be occasionally exposed to vibrations & loud noises.May spend extended times at elevated heights and going up or down ladder or stairs.We provide a catalog of Hi-Vis selections from Refrigewear to choose what PPE you wish to have. We will cover 50% of the cost for all PPE, except for boots, half of your payroll will be deducted.Boots will be paid for up to $100, team members must wear either steel or composite toe boots that conform to ANSI 75lbs or more PSI rating with a slip resistant sole that covers the ankles.
