Summary of Role

As a Maintenance Technician at the Malta Fab 8 (300mm leading edge semiconductor manufacturing facility), you will monitor, sustain, and improve equipment and processes in the assigned area. You will partner with production team members and area engineers to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets, using mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment‑related issues. Concise communication of equipment status updates to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer is essential.

Essential Functions – Skills
  • Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks
  • Perform work activities safely and responsibly in line with all FAB8 EHS&S policies
  • Work independently and collaboratively with teams in a fast‑paced environment
  • Support and engage in training activities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment per operating procedures
  • Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness
  • Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation, and effectively communicate end‑of‑shift pass‑downs
  • Use time‑management skills to prioritize and plan daily work and scheduled activities
Essential Functions – Physical Capacity Demands
  • Work standing for >85% of a 12‑hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Walk on uneven surfaces for >85% of a 12‑hour shift
  • Lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift
  • Lift equipment and tools during maintenance activities (above 50lbs requires a two‑person lift)
  • Manually manipulate hand tools and small hardware for >85% of a 12‑hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Climb vertical ladders, bend at waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach up/over, and crawl for >85% of a 12‑hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Use a computer (typing, visual screen time) for >85% of a 12‑hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
  • Wear required cleanroom clothing for a minimum of 10 hours a day
  • Wear upgraded PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical splash apron & gloves, full‑face shield) when required
  • Comply with OSHA & NIOSH standard CFR 29 1910.134 (clean shaven) for N95 dust mask or other air‑filtering devices and full‑face respirator for extended periods (>2 hours)
Preferred Functions – Skills
  • Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to out‑of‑control conditions, including defect troubleshooting
  • Develop and enhance operating procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, learning, and skills development
  • Read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams
  • Use basic hand tools and apply quality workmanship principles
  • Apply troubleshooting and structured problem‑solving techniques
  • Understand principles of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform all activities safely and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Required Qualifications
  • High School Degree (or equivalent)
  • Electrical or mechanical background with one of the following:
    • 2‑year technical degree
    • 2 years of relevant military experience
    • 4 years of relevant experience (automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, electrical work, etc.)
  • Minimal travel
  • English (written & verbal) fluency
  • Basic reading and writing comprehension skills
  • Basic computer navigation skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook)
  • Work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing
  • Stand for an extended period during a 12‑hour shift
  • Lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance (above 50lbs requires a two‑person lift)
  • Flexible and willing to work any shift (3–4 days alternating weeks during day or night shift)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in engineering technology, military equivalent, trade equivalent, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of direct experience working in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Project management skills (ability to innovate and execute on solutions, navigate ambiguity)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills

Alternating Week Shift Schedules
  • Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday 06:00 PM – 06:30 AM (Night); Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday + Saturday 06:00 PM – 06:30 AM
  • Week 1: Wednesday to Saturday 06:00 PM – 06:30 AM; Week 2: Wednesday to Friday 06:00 PM – 06:30 AM

Expected Salary Range

$43,100.00 – $70,600.00 (exact salary determined by qualifications, experience, and location)
