Job summary

TVHC in Idaho is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to plan and coordinate facility, equipment, and grounds maintenance, and to complete work orders as assigned by department directors.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, ability to test emergency systems, assist with purchasing, and ensure compliance with safety codes. On-call duties and preventative maintenance targets are expected, with strong organizational skills and English communication.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills for training and compliance education.
  • Basic Math Skills.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Tests and maintains emergency electrical, mechanical systems, boilers, chillers, generators, pumps.
  • Monitors and orders medical gas systems.
  • Assists Facility Director with purchasing.
  • Maintains yard and grounds upkeep including snow removal to keep areas safe.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance programs with high completion rate.
  • Maintains knowledge of hospital plant operations and prioritizes work.
  • Provides emergency maintenance and on-call support.
  • Researches and follows NFPA Life Safety Codes as relevant.
  • Operates oil-fired boilers, air handling units, and electrical generators.
  • Maintains hospital equipment including laundry and kitchen devices.
  • Performs basic drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, and construction repairs.
  • Fills in as Security Officer when needed.
  • Assists with any other duties as assigned.

Description

The Maintenance Engineer plans and coordinates activities concerned with the operation, repair and maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds. Completes work orders as assigned by department directors.

Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and performs any activities concerned with the operational maintenance and repairs of the facilities, grounds and equipment.
  • Tests and maintains emergency electrical, mechanical systems, boilers, chillers, emergency generators, compressors, pumps, suction, patient beds, grounds equipment, fans or other as assigned.
  • Monitors, maintains and orders medical gas system.
  • Assists Facility Director with purchasing.
  • Maintains/oversees lawn mowing and snow removal tasks as needed to keep grounds and drive ways attractive and safe from potential hazards for employees and community visitors.
  • Maintains assigned preventative maintenance at 98% or higher completion rate.
  • Maintains knowledge of and executes hospital plant operations. Organizes and prioritizes work.
  • Provides, emergency maintenance and/or consultation per on-call policy.
  • Researches, implements and follows all NFPA Life Safety Codes as relevant to the Hospital.
  • Operates/Maintains oil-fired boilers, ground and roof air handlers, and electrical generators.
  • Maintains laundry, kitchen and other hospital and clinic equipment as needed.
  • Performs basic drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, and construction build/repair functions.
  • Fills in as Security Officer when needed and maintains knowledge and skills associated with this role.
  • Assists with any other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years electrical or mechanical experience
  • Experience working in a hospital, clinic or other patient care setting
  • Previous experience in commercial/industrial building maintenance
  • CPR certification
  • Additional languages – Spanish preferred
