  • A valid driver license and current auto insurance are required.
  • Current ASHE Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) 2.0 qualification preferred; if not present, must obtain within six months of hire and maintain thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains Healthcare Facilities and Infrastructure: Operates, monitors, inspects, maintains, and repairs hospital, clinic, utility, life safety, and facility infrastructure systems.
  • Performs Specialized Painting, Finishing, and Drywall Work: Interior/exterior painting, staining, surface prep, drywall installation/repair, texture matching, finishing, and maintenance.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance and Work Requests: Completes preventive and corrective maintenance, customer service requests, equipment installations, and project support.
  • Ensures Regulatory, Safety, and Infection Control Compliance: Works in accordance with healthcare regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Supports Emergency Response and Facility Readiness: Responds to emergencies and participates in drills and preparedness activities.
  • Supports Department Operations and Documentation: Maintains accurate maintenance, testing, inspection, and work order records in CMMS; assists with projects and inventory.
  • Performs additional duties as required to support department and organizational goals.

Compensation Range: $24.81 - $37.53.

  • Compensation is based on experience, with a range reflecting entry-level candidates through those with 15+ years of experience. Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation with applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.

Additional Compensation Differential Opportunities:

  • Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hour.
  • Non-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour. | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hour.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the daily supervision of the Facilities Manager and general direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Engineer / Painter performs skilled painting, finishing, surface preparation, drywall repair, maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, installation, and preventive maintenance activities on healthcare facility buildings, infrastructure, utility systems, equipment, and grounds. Responsibilities includemaintainingappearance, safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance of healthcare facilities while supporting facility reliability, life safety systems, emergency preparedness, infection prevention practices, and continuous facility operations. The position works independently whileutilizingsound judgment and initiative to support a safe, compliant, and healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is expected tomaintaina high levelof craftsmanship, attention to detail, and customer service while performing assigned duties throughout CHN facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains Healthcare Facilities and Infrastructure :Operates, monitors, inspects,maintains, and repairs hospital, clinic, utility, life safety, and facility infrastructure systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Performs Specialized Painting, Finishing, and Drywall Work :Performs interior and exterior painting, staining, surface preparation, drywall installation and repair, texture matching, finishing, and maintenance of architectural surfaces, wall protection systems, and related facility finishes.

Performs Preventive Maintenance and Work Requests :Completes preventive and corrective maintenance, customer service requests, equipment installations, facility repairs, and project support activities. Coordinates specialized contractor services when necessary.

Ensures Regulatory, Safety, and Infection Control Compliance :Performs workin accordance withhealthcare regulatory requirements, infection control standards, life safety measures, electrical safety practices, and applicable federal, state, and accreditation standards.

Supports Emergency Response and Facility Readiness :Responds to facility emergencies, utility failures, fire alarms, code calls, severe weather events, disaster situations, and security-related incidents.Participatesin fire drills, life safety rounds, and emergency preparedness activities.

Supports Department Operations and Documentation :Maintainsaccuratemaintenance, testing, inspection, and work order records within the CMMS;assistswith facility improvement projects, contractor oversight, inventory management, and other departmental activities that support organizational goals.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • A high school diplomaor GEDrequiredwithin 6 months of hire; anassociatedegree or equivalent ispreferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, construction, painting, drywall, or facilities maintenance environmentsrequired.
  • Experience in a hospital, healthcare, or critical infrastructure environment preferred.
  • A validdriverlicense and current statutory limits of auto insurance arerequired.
  • Current ASHE Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) 2.0 Qualification preferred. Employees who do notpossessthe qualification at the time of hire must successfully obtain the ASHE ICRA 2.0 Qualification within six (6) months of hire andmaintainthe qualification thereafter.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation methods, coating systems, drywall repair, patching, finishing, and texture application.
  • Knowledge of proper handling, storage, and application of paints, stains, coatings, solvents, adhesives, and related materials.
  • Ability to select andutilizeappropriate paintingtools, spray equipment, ladders, scaffolding, and related equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to match existing colors, textures, and finishes whilemaintainingorganizational appearance standards.
  • Knowledge of safe operating methods of equipment, tools, and safety regulations used in skilled building maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of basicconstructionmathematics and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, instructions, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documents.
  • Ability toutilizecommon computer applications and work-related software systems, including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to safely and effectivelyoperatehand tools, power tools, testing equipment, gauges, and meters used in facility maintenance activities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and respond effectively to routine and emergency maintenance situations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, visitors, staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while performing assigned duties.
  • Ability to learn and apply healthcare-specific safety, infection prevention, life safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Must successfully complete on-line Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)training courses100 & 200 within90 daysof employment withadditionalFEMA training to be assigned and ongoing.
