Job summary

Aspen One in Boulder, CO is seeking a Maintenance Engineer I to respond to and complete general maintenance requests for guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, and back of house areas under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.

The role includes painting, safety inspections, OSHA and GHS compliance, coordinating off-season projects, and daily guest interactions, with emphasis on quality work and safety. Regular weekend/holiday availability may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in mechanical fields such as HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and complete all general maintenance requests as needed including all areas inside and outside of the hotel & related properties.
  • Tape, spackle, and paint walls
  • Promptly and courteously respond to guest room calls
  • Ensure work orders are tracked, completed, and prioritized
  • Help plan and coordinate projects during the off season
  • Perform safety inspections
  • Ensure all compliance standards are met including OSHA and GHS
  • Identify process improvements and best practice
  • Report all safety hazards and suspicious persons or activities to management
  • Monitor and maintain fire detection system and help with any emergency evacuation
  • Interact with guests on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer I responds to and completes all general maintenance requests for room calls, public areas, meeting rooms, back of house, physical plant, and exterior areas of the property. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.


The pay range for this position is $21.00 to $25.20 per hour; actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities


  • Respond to and complete all general maintenance requests as needed including all areas inside and outside of the hotel & related properties

  • Tape, spackle, and paint walls

  • Promptly and courteously respond to guest room calls

  • Ensure work orders are tracked, completed, and prioritized

  • Help plan and coordinate projects during the off season

  • Perform safety inspections

  • Ensure all compliance standards are met including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and GHS (Global Harmonized System for chemicals)

  • Identify process improvements and best practice

  • Report all safety hazards and suspicious persons or activities to management

  • Monitor and maintain fire detection system and help with any emergency evacuation

  • Interact with guests on a daily basis

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements



  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years’ experience in mechanical fields such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, and/or plumbing preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical repairs, and carpentry

  • Knowledge of company's safety procedures and protocols

  • Basic industry terminology

  • Ability to work some weekends and holidays

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Completes tasks and goals efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing to team members and customers

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Ability to do basic problem-solving


Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands


  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time

  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces

  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
