Job summary

Embassy Suites - Jacksonville is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Maintenance Engineer to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning hotel environment for guests and staff.

The role covers preventive maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and hotel equipment, plus timely response to maintenance requests, safety concerns, and energy efficiency opportunities. Evening schedule on Sunday-Thursday and Fri-Sat shifts, with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel maintenance or facilities management.
• Strong service orientation and guest-focus.
• Ability to work the 2nd/Evening shift and adapt to flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all guests, employees, and managers.
• Maintain a professional appearance and wear the proper uniform and name tag according to brand standards.
• Follow all Vesta Hospitality standards, policies, and safety procedures to support safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests.
• Report emergencies, unusual situations, and safety concerns immediately.
• Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel equipment and facilities.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs (lighting, painting, drywall, minor furniture, plumbing, tile, laundry equipment, vacuum, small equipment).
• Perform preventative maintenance on ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guest rooms, meeting rooms, pool/spa, exhaust fans.
• Monitor energy conservation and help identify opportunities to reduce energy usage.
• Respond immediately to alarms, determine location and cause, assess status, and communicate findings to Front Desk.
• Identify and assist with correcting potential safety hazards.
• Assist with health-code compliance for the swimming pool and spa.
• Demonstrate a cooperative, helpful, professional attitude at all times.

Embassy Suites Hotel is currently seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our growing team!

We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and service-oriented professional who takes pride in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning hotel environment for our guests and team members.

Schedule

2nd Shift / Evening Shift

• Sunday–Thursday: approximately 2:00 PM–11:00 PM
• Friday–Saturday: approximately 3:00 PM–12:00 AM
• Flexible schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all guests, employees, and managers.

• Perform preventative maintenance on:

  • Swimming pool and hot tub
  • Exhaust fans and supply systems
• Monitor energy conservation and help identify opportunities to reduce energy usage.

• Identify and assist with correcting potential safety hazards.
• Assist with maintaining health-code requirements for the swimming pool and spa.

• Perform additional maintenance duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
• Ability to perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to safely work from tall ladders and perform maintenance tasks at elevated heights.
