Our client, an educational institution, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their team. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be part of the Facilities department supporting campus operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, hands-on trade skills, and the drive to keep facilities running smoothly—so students, staff, and visitors can rely on a well-maintained environment.
Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: Grayslake, IL
Pay Range: $23.39/hour
Shift: First shift, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
What's the Job?
- Perform corrective and general/preventive maintenance as directed by assigned work orders, following all applicable procedures and safety practices.
- Use maintenance checklists to identify required maintenance or repairs and complete work with accuracy and urgency.
- Handle a variety of facility repairs and projects, including painting, concrete repairs, electrical repairs, plumbing diagnosis/repairs, and carpentry tasks.
- Support hydraulic work (pumps, controls, and related systems) and ensure proper operation of doors and locking mechanisms.
- Respond to after-hours and emergency maintenance situations, including snow removal for walks, entrances, and ice control, and maintain required logs and work order documentation.
What's Needed?
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience with demonstrated skills in one or more trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, including preventive maintenance experience.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis, and over 70 lbs. on an occasional basis, and maneuver in tight spaces around machinery with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, communicate effectively, troubleshoot problems, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while supporting the College’s mission and values.
