Job summary

Alliant Energy in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to perform electrical, basic control and instrument maintenance at generation facilities and high‑voltage substations. You will troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and document activities while following safety practices.

Standard schedule is 40 hours per week, with voluntary overtime. Requires journey-level electrical experience and completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship, plus a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Journey level in the electrical trade and completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship Program.
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting and plant systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and basic mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of equipment in the generation facility and HV substation.
• Maintain electrical equipment at a generating station and high voltage substation.
• Maintain and install basic plant control systems and related activities.
• Process documentation and logging of data from devices used in diagnostics and work activities.
• Operate tools and assist in safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements.

Job Summary

Performs varied electrical, basic control and instrument and basic mechanical maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility and high voltage substation to which they are assigned.

What you will do

• Perform the electrical and basic mechanical troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing equipment and systems for the generation facility.
• Perform maintenance of electrical equipment at an electric generating station and high voltage substation.
• Maintain and install basic plant control systems and similar activities.
• Maintain, calibrate, assist with required testing of equipment and systems.
• Process all necessary documentation.
• Operate and/or obtain information from various basic mechanical and electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gather, interpret and log data.
• Be proficient in the use of various powered and/or hand tools as job needs dictate.
• Support safety, plant reliability, productivity and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
• Perform various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.
• Perform all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
• Perform other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Work Shift & Hours

• Standard Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday start time at 5:00 AM
• Overtime Opportunities: Voluntary overtime is frequently available to support station needs and project demands; however, overtime is strictly optional and not mandatory.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

• Journey level in the electrical trade
• Completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship Program

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to solve problems.
• Possesses skills in basic mechanical and basic instrument and controls.
• Knowledge in theory and skills in non-structural welding.
• Mechanical comprehension.
• Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with steam plant cycles and operations.
• Must possess technical ability.
• Knowledge of company safety rules.
• High degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Strong leadership ability.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range

$55.93 - $58.49
