Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS is hiring an Electrical Technician to layout, install, repair, and maintain plant electrical systems in an industrial setting. You will install low- and medium-voltage distribution, verify protective devices, read complex electrical plans, and locate faults using a range of test equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1–2 years of electrical trades training, plus bronze WorkKeys certification and forklift/ aviation area training

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years electrical maintenance in industrial setting.
  • Requires reading wiring diagrams and shop math.
  • Must obtain necessary training including forklift operation and Aircraft Operating Area license.

Responsibilities

  • Installs low voltage power distribution, lighting, and signaling in accordance with NEC.
  • Verifies operation of medium and low voltage protective devices.
  • Reads complex electrical plans and installs distribution as outlined.
  • Locates malfunctions in plant power distribution equipment and wiring.
  • Understands use of a wide range of test equipment.
  • Safely repairs malfunctioning distribution equipment.
  • Uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.
  • Responsible for quality of own work.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Summary:

  • Installs low voltage electrical power distribution, lighting, and signaling systems in accordance to the National Electrical Code.
  • Verifies that medium and low voltage electrical protective devices are operating safely.
  • Able to read complex electrical plans, and installs electrical distribution as outlined.
  • Locates electrical malfunctions in plant power distribution equipment and electrical wiring.
  • Understands the use of a wide range of test equipment.
  • Safely makes repairs to malfunctioning electrical distribution equipment.
  • Uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.
  • Responsible for quality of own work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education:

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification plus one to two years electrical trades training. Requires the use of shop math, wiring diagrams, handbook formulas, electrical trade knowledge, and knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Must obtain and maintain any necessary training and licensing, including but not limited to, Forklift Operation Certificate and Aircraft Operating Area License.

Experience:

Requires 1 -2 years of electrical maintenance work in an industrial setting.

Working Conditions:

Somewhat disagreeable due to the variety of work locations, both indoors and outdoors.
