Job summary

Ventura Foods seeks a Maintenance Electrician to troubleshoot, install, and service electrical and control systems in our Waukesha facility. The role requires reading schematics, wiring high/low voltage, and maintaining PLCs with emphasis on safety and reliability.

The candidate should have strong PLC knowledge, ladder logic, and proficiency with test equipment. Onsite, second shift with competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of industrial experience preferred in high-speed packaging environments.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical and controls problems from prints and schematics.
  • Experience wiring high and low voltage including control power.
  • Proficient with PLCs and ladder logic.
  • Familiar with electrical test equipment (multimeters, scopes, analyzers).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, programs, and maintains PLCs.
  • Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, circuits; diagnoses malfunctions.
  • Replaces faulty switches and components; dismantles and replaces parts.
  • Installs, repairs, overhauls, and maintains electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Maintains plant power distribution and preventive maintenance.

Position Summary:

**No Relocation assistance or Sponsorship available for this role**

Troubleshoot and support the electrical and controls of the facility and processes as well as design technical electrical and controls projects. Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment while following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Troubleshoots, programs, and maintains PLC's

Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.

Replaces faulty switches, and other elements of electrical and mechanical systems. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.

Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery.

Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical, electronic, and mechanical components throughout the Plant.

Maintains Plant power distribution systems, including performing preventive maintenance, and installing wiring, conduit and apparatus.

Education and Experience:

At least 5 years industrial experience preferable in a plant with high-speed packaging equipment.

Knowledge and Skills:

Be able to diagnose electrical and controls problems and make the proper repairs. Must be able to read and communicate in the "English Language" in order to read and understand electrical prints. Be able to wire high and low voltage including control power.
Be able to lay out a wiring project from transformer to equipment.
Be proficient with PC and PLC controls and logic. Working knowledge and experience with Ladder Logic.
Working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use electronic and electrical test equipment including digital and analog volt and ohm-meters, oscilloscopes, data analyzers and circuit testers.
Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety.

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required.
