Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC in Mount Holly, NC is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to support plant electrical systems and PLCs. You will troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical controls on 13.2kV through 277V systems, read schematics, and work from PMs and WO’s.

The role requires a Journeyman credential or Bona Fide Apprenticeship and at least four years’ electrical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Four years of troubleshooting electrical controls and PLCs in an industrial facility.
• Ability to safely use meters and gauges.
• Knowledge of NEC and power distribution.
• Journeyman card and Bona Fide Apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems for plant equipment using PLCs.
• Calculate circuit sizes and conduit per NEC.
• Provide electrical instruction from prints, sketches and verbally.
• Read wiring schematics, ladder diagrams and PLC programs.
• Input documentation for PLC programs.
• Repair mechanical/hydraulic/electrical equipment as needed.

Inside the Role

As part of the Mount Holly Truck Plant team, you are responsible for providing electrical maintenance support. The candidate for this position will have a passion for process improvements, a keen eye to detail, and troubleshooting. Requirements

Performs electrician maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on all plant electrical systems, 13.2 KV, 4160 V, 480 V, and 277V three phase systems, 208 V, 240V single and three phase systems, 120 V single phase, as well as 24 and 12 volt systems. Performs electrical installations, including running conduit, pulling wire, mounting and wiring of electrical components. Troubleshoot plant equipment with or without using various PLC systems. Troubleshoot PLC problems. Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Perform mechanical maintenance from shop work orders, preventative work orders (PM’s) as well as from written, drawn and verbal instruction.

Qualifications

Documentation substantiating four (4) years troubleshooting electrical controls and working with PLC’s in an industrial facility. Must demonstrate the safe use of various meters and gauges. Must demonstrate the safe and proper installation techniques for power systems wiring, including running conduit. Must demonstrate full working knowledge of the NEC and power distribution systems. High school diploma required, Associates Degree preferred. Practical knowledge of Preventative Maintenance Systems and Root Cause Failure Analysis required. Journeyman Card and documentation showing a Bona Fide Apprenticeship equaling 4 years experience in skilled trades is preferred. Must be able to work second or third shift

Duties

Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems for plant equipment and systems using PLC equipment. Must be capable of calculating circuit sizes, wire and conduit per NEC. Must be capable of providing electrical instruction from prints, sketches and verbally. Must be capable tracing and sketching electrical circuit components and their wiring. Must be capable of reading wiring schematics, Ladder diagrams and PLC programs. Must be capable of inputting documentation for PLC programs. Perform other duties as required utilizing mechanical knowledge to repair other mechanical and hydraulic equipment as well as electrical equipment.
