Job summary

Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Technician in Houston, TX. The role involves maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, performing repairs, and supporting plant operations to ensure continuous production.

Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years in electrical technology and plant maintenance, be proficient with electrical testing tools, and capable of reading drawings and diagrams.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 2-years in Electrical Technology and Plant Maintenance.
• Must be able to use any/all equipment necessary to maintain the operation of the plant.
• Must be capable of performing the essential functions required by the job, including being able to see colors.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs electrical repairs to minimize interruption of production.
• Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment to keep the plant in continuous operation.
• Receives work instructions from supervisor.
• Starts and stops mill motors, air compressors, fans, kilns, etc. as required.
• Makes emergency, temporary or permanent mechanical repairs to cement plant machinery such as sprockets, chains, drives, scales, pumps, oil and water lines, etc.
• Inspects all electrical equipment in the assigned area, checking motor bearings, lubrication, commutation, excessive vibration, obvious signs of wear or need for adjustment, etc.
• Diagnoses trouble using testing equipment or own judgment based on general knowledge of electrical principles.
• Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage.
• Interprets and analyzes drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and trace electrical circuits, to determine material and replacement needs, and to select a logical approach to trouble shooting and repair problems.
• Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates electrical equipment taking all safety precautions.
• Performs simple rigging as required.
• Operates simple machine tools, such as drill press, portable drill, etc.

We are looking for a MAINTENANCE ELECTRICAL TECHNICIANto join our Houston, TXlocation. As a Maintenance Electrician with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials performs maintenance inspections, replace, install, adjust, troubleshoot, rig and lift, and maintain plant mechanical and electrical equipment. This position will operate various hand tools, common electrical and instrument testing equipment, mechanical tools, burning equipment, and mobile equipment.

• Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
• Performs electrical repairs to minimize interruption of production.

• When faulty operation is observed or pointed out by operating crews, diagnose trouble using testing equipment or own judgment based on general knowledge of electrical principles.
• Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage, or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
• Interpret and analyze drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and trace electrical circuits, to determine material and replacement needs, and to select a logical approach to trouble shooting and repair problems.
• Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates electrical equipment taking all safety precautions.
• Adjusts equipment to obtain proper operation characteristics.
• Makes emergency or temporary repairs to equipment breakdowns
• Makes mechanical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electrical equipment.
• Performs simple rigging as required.
• Operates simple machine tools, such as drill press, portable drill, etc.
• Works with repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns.
• Perform Production Assistant work when assigned to support the crew.
• Perform other duties assigned.
