Job summary

Diversicare in Birmingham, AL is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our aging-care campus team. You will perform preventative maintenance, repairs to building systems and equipment, and coordinate with department managers to keep facilities safe and compliant.

The role requires HVAC repair experience, basic electrical and plumbing skills, knowledge of safety rules, building codes, and the ability to read blueprints. A High School diploma or GED is required; computer literacy is a plus.

Qualifications

• HVAC repair experience required.
• Intermediate electrical and plumbing repair skills.
• Knowledge of water heaters, generators, refrigeration is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and blueprint interpretation.
• High School/GED or ability to read, write and follow directions.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Positive attitude toward the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and maintains maintenance records as instructed.
• Performs building and equipment repairs per work orders.
• Performs fire safety equipment tests under guidance.
• Inspects building systems as scheduled and logs findings.
• Coordinates maintenance services with department managers to ensure uninterrupted performance.
• Performs basic carpentry, drywall, flooring and painting as required.
• Maintains the building in good repair in compliance with laws.
• Follows safety rules and company policies.
• Orders equipment and supplies and maintains records.
• May be required to drive for company business.
• Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and maintains maintenance records as instructed.
• Perform building and equipment repairs, as per work order requests.
• Performs fire safety equipment tests under the guidance of the Regional Maintenance Director.
• Inspects building systems as scheduled and log findings.
• Coordinate maintenance services with department managers to ensure building and equipment performance without interruption.
• Performs basic carpentry, drywall, flooring and painting as required to maintain favorable building appearance.
• Maintains the building in good repair and in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
• Follows established safety rules and Policies & Procedures of building.
• Order equipment and supplies as necessary; and maintain proper records of repairs and purchases.
• May be required to drive for company business with either company vehicle personal vehicle
• Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect

Qualifications

• Must have demonstrated HVAC repair experience.
• Intermediate skillset in electric and plumbing repair highly desired.
• Knowledge of water heaters, generators commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration would be a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and blueprint interpretation.
• Completion of High School/GED education or otherwise show ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic computerliteracy
• Positive attitude toward the elderly
