Job summary

UniFirst Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a reliable Maintenance Custodian to join our team. You will perform housekeeping and cleaning in office spaces, kitchens, common areas, production floors, restrooms, and outdoor areas, with a Monday–Friday workweek and occasional night or weekend overtime.

On-the-job training is provided. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment and lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize equipment to perform housekeeping operations in office areas, kitchens, common areas, production floors, restrooms, and outdoor spaces.
• Ensure restrooms, kitchen, and breakrooms are cleaned and stocked.
• Remove trash and place in designated area.
• Maintain window cleanliness.
• Dust furniture and ensure hardware is satisfactory.
• Relocate light furniture as directed.
• Replace light bulbs in overhead fixtures as directed.
• Perform cleaning in office areas, production floors, exterior areas, and other property areas as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Utilize equipment to perform housekeeping operations, including wet and dry mops, brooms, floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, towels, steel wool, carts, and trash cans.
• Ensure restrooms, kitchen, and breakroom areas are cleaned and stocked.
• Remove trash and place it in the designated area.
• Maintain window cleanliness.
• Uphold furniture by dusting and ensure builders hardware is satisfactory.
• Relocate light furniture to assigned areas as directed.
• Replace light bulbs in overhead fixtures when directed.
• Perform cleaning operations in the office areas, production floor, outside of the facility, and other property areas as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

What weâre looking for:

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• Must be 18 years of age or older to work in heights and electricity
• High school education and/or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment to ensure safe usage of general cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to operate floor cleaning equipment and other tools as required.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret procedures and instructions in English.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers and managers.
• Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
