Oshkosh AeroTech, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a Controls Technician to maintain and repair electrical and automated control systems for airport-related equipment. You’ll troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, sensors, relays, and motor controls, perform preventive maintenance, and interpret schematics and tech docs in a field environment.

The Controls Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and operation of electrical and automated control systems and associated equipment. The Controls Technician shall be able to troubleshoot control systems, read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation, and understand the operation and configuration of PLCs, VFDs, sensors, controllers, communication networks, and related components.

While performing the duties of the Controls Technician, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, perform work from ladders, and work in confined or restricted spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions on an active airport ramp around aircraft, vehicles, and equipment, as well as within confined areas associated with baggage conveyor and mechanical systems. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Good hand-eye coordination is required.
The work environment includes both office and field-based activities. Field work may be performed outdoors on active airport ramps, within mechanical and electrical equipment areas, and around baggage handling and automated material handling systems. The employee may regularly work near moving vehicles, aircraft, heavy equipment, electrical systems, energized equipment, conveyors, and moving mechanical parts. The position may involve exposure to loud noise, varying temperatures, weather conditions, confined spaces, and other conditions commonly found within an active airport and industrial maintenance environment.
