Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines, Inc. offers a Maintenance Co-op for students in automotive, diesel, or related technical programs. This 9-12 week, part-time role provides hands-on exposure in a professional shop environment, supporting day-to-day operations and observing experienced technicians.

You will assist with shop upkeep, parts department tasks, and learn about equipment maintenance and repair in a real-world setting, while gaining practical skills in a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in automotive/diesel tech program.
  • Interest in maintenance and transportation equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around shop equipment and follow safety procedures.
  • Fluent in English; legally eligible to work in the United States; able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with building and grounds maintenance.
  • Help maintain shop cleanliness and organization.
  • Sweep floors and assist with painting projects.
  • Support the parts department with stocking, organizing, shipping, and receiving.
  • Maintain organized parts and supply areas.
  • Observe and assist technicians with very minor repairs under supervision.
  • Assist maintenance team with general shop support activities.

Overview

The Maintenance Co-op is a 9-12 week, part-time opportunity designed for students pursuing education in automotive, diesel, or a related technical program. Students will gain hands-on exposure to a professional maintenance shop environment while supporting day-to-day shop operations.

This role allows students to assist with basic shop and facility upkeep, support the parts department, and observe experienced technicians while learning about equipment maintenance and repair in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with building and grounds maintenance
  • Help maintain shop cleanliness and organization
  • Sweep floors, empty trash cans, and assist with painting projects
  • Support the parts department with stocking, organizing, shipping, and receiving
  • Maintain organized parts and supply areas
  • Observe and assist technicians with very minor repairs and maintenance tasks under direct supervision
  • Assist maintenance team with general shop support activities

  • Currently enrolled in an automotive, diesel, or related technical program
