Job Summary

Responsibility for general preventative maintenance, repair and overhaul, work study, equipment training, and scheduling through the Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Safety is a primary concern, and every effort should be made to prevent a failure or escape in which someone could be injured. In addition, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be labeled, maintained, and utilized for all related activities.
  • Maintain and follow up on a standard operating procedure (SOP) for power consumption in the Processing department. Minimization of power consumed while not negatively influencing productivity and changeover time is important.
  • In a formal quarterly report, new/improved equipment upgrades or redesigns that may improve the end quality of product, safety, or improved efficiencies through the manufacturing process as well as reduced scrap will be turned in. Providing qualitative and quantitative improvement to the Maintenance Supervisor on a weekly basis is required.
  • Follow the schedule for routine maintenance – one machine per week minimum; this will include detailed cleaning, lubricating, greasing and overall look-over for loose wires, loose bolts, dirty stripe heads –checklist is required.
  • Inventory basic replacement products. Could include items like pots/fuses/switches – plus common motors, boards, heater elements, etc. so we can have a general inventory of replacement parts. Ensure that the replacement parts housing area maintains 6S compliance.
  • Store and organize all tools in a locked area. All tools necessary to complete all tasks and duties shall be in good working condition. Follow the formal standard operating procedure for the check in and check out of all tools. Stocking levels of consumables deemed necessary for quick response to machine failures should be discussed with Maintenance Supervisor at regular intervals.
  • Work within the expected cycle time for repair and maintenance (R&M). This expectation should be based on types of failure, and the time in which the machine will be back to full operational status. Mitigate and minimize cycle time.
  • Machine "overhaul/cleaning" will be completed at regular intervals, per the Maintenance Supervisor's SOP.
  • Ability to work on all machines, including working knowledge of functions, limits, and uses are required. Able to effectively troubleshoot issues with a range of personnel inside of the organization.
  • Maintain organization of manuals/information by machine. Digitize all documents, and store on internal server.
  • Create maintenance log for each machine for historical listing of all work, date of work and exactly what was performed. Should use the power log meters along with date for knowledge on how old replacement part has been in service.
  • Formally document any modifications done to machines. Written explanations and drawings should be included when practical. Centralize and organize all information with logs, manuals, modification, and other related documents.
  • Maintain stock levels of all consumables needed for daily operations. This would include cleaning products, paper products, garbage bags, etc.
  • Beautification of the facility is important for customer visits and morale. Ensure that all trash is removed from inside and outside of the building daily. Rapid response to any R&M issues that arise is necessary. This would include respooler failures, lights needing replacement, etc.
