Job summary

Saddle Creek Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Associate to support the Distribution Center in Illinois. You will perform routine preventative maintenance, assist with building upkeep, and support various trades to keep operations running smoothly.

This role requires one year of semi-skilled maintenance or warehouse experience, familiarity with hand tools, and the ability to operate forklifts and other equipment.

  • Familiarity with manual and electrical hand tools.
  • Able to operate forklifts and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair in the Distribution Center.
  • Assist in maintenance and warehouse tasks; perform sanitation when not in maintenance.
  • Carry out skilled trades such as painting, plumbing, electrical work to maintain facilities.
  • Inspect building interior/exterior and report issues to Supervisor.
  • Support installation, maintenance, and construction of fixtures and shelving.
  • Maintain clean, organized warehouses and grounds.
  • Participate in regular safety checks to ensure a safe environment.

DUTIES
  • The Maintenance Associate will perform routine preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Distribution Center building.
  • Assists in various maintenance and warehouse department tasks and will perform Sanitation duties when not engaged in Maintenance activities.
  • Performs variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, such as painting, plumbing, minor electrical, other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing the building.
  • Perform routine, repetitive daily inspection and maintenance necessary to building exterior/interior.
  • Assists and performs semiskilled tasks of a general nature in connection with maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of the Distribution Center building.
  • Perform Sanitation duties when not engaged in Maintenance activities
  • Assists and performs with installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith and mechanics.
  • Assists and performs functions in the construction, installation and maintenance of furniture, fences, cabinets, shelving, marker boards/chalkboards, tack boards, racks and a variety of other structures and items.
  • Maintains warehouse, shelving and racks in clean and orderly conditions.
  • Inspect properties and communicate with Supervisor regarding proper grounds keeping and general cleanup and maintenance.
  • Perform general grounds keeping on a daily basis; inspect outside of Distribution Center areas, ensure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition.
  • Prepares and paints walls and woodwork or performs other types of refinish; installs or repairs racks; performs custodial duties as required.
  • May perform weekly, monthly and quarterly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the facility and to eliminate all hazards.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year experience as a semi-skilled worker in one or more of the basic building maintenance trades and/or one year experience in a warehouse distribution operation.
  • Knowledge of manual and electrical hand tools
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, boom lift, light truck and other related motorized equipment.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

1 year of related employment in the building maintenance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Work involves frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing ladders and staircases.
  • Work involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching, bending at the waist.
  • Indoor/ out-door work environment with exposure to weather extremes.
  • Must be able to perceive the nature of sound, utilize near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, and possess the manual dexterity to handle and work with various materials and objects which are essential aspects of this position if this position requires lifting of 10lbs or more please specify.
