Job summary

PruittHealth in Maryland is seeking a Maintenance worker to perform routine maintenance of HVAC systems, medical equipment, and general center upkeep. You will also perform safety checks, fire system tests, and carpentry tasks to support patient care areas.

Responsibilities include equipment testing, grounds maintenance, plumbing repairs, and assisting in fire drills. A high school diploma and on-the-job training are required, with a full-time, 1st shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Uses pressure washer as requested.
• Uses electrical tools such as voltmeter, drills, saws.
• Checks oxygen level of concentrators as requested or needed.
• Performs routine maintenance of oxygen concentrator as requested.
• Performs water temperature tests as requested/scheduled.
• Tests fire alarm systems.
• Tests fire safety equipment as scheduled/needed
• Builds various structures for patient use (benches, boxes, carpentry).
• Maintains plumbing, replaces and unclogs hair traps, toilets; replaces pipes.
• Maintains outlets and wiring in equipment; replaces wiring if needed.
• Installs/checks batteries of smoke alarms and medical devices.
• Assists in fire drills and inspections.
• Moves furniture as needed and assists patient belongings.
• Patches/interiors and exteriors as required.
• Maintains grounds and performs general maintenance tasks.

Job Purpose

Assists in repairs and maintenance of physical structure of nursing center in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and our established procedural guidelines, and as may be directed by supervisor.

Assists in repairs and maintenance of physical structure of nursing center in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and our established procedural guidelines, and as may be directed by supervisor.

Salary Range: $20.80- $31.20 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance of HVAC, medical equipment, wheelchairs.
• Uses pressure washer as requested.
• Uses electrical tools and equipment when appropriate. (Including voltmeter, drills, saws, etc.)
• Checks oxygen level of concentrators as requested or needed.
• Performs routine maintenance of oxygen concentrator as requested.
• Performs water temperature tests as requested/scheduled.
• Tests fire alarm systems.
• Tests fire safety equipment as scheduled/needed
• Builds various structures for the use of the patients, e.g., benches, flower boxes, and other carpentry work requiring the use of various materials (wood, plaster, cement, nails, etc.)
• Completes general maintenance, plumbing repair, replacing and unclogging hair traps, unplugging toilets, repairing washers and dryer, replacing broken pipes/water lines etc.
• Maintains and replaces electrical outlets, light bulbs and rewires or replaces wiring in various equipment used by the center.
• Installs and checks batteries of smoke alarms, lights, medical equipment.
• Assists in fire drills. Also checks extinguishers and assists fire Marshall with inspection.
• Removes furniture and clothing from rooms no longer occupied, or assists in the moving to another room of patient’s belongings e.g. furniture etc.
• Paints, repairs, and patches interior or exterior of center as required.
• Assists in the construction of any additions onto the center.
• Maintains the grounds of the center to ensure that they are free of garbage; also, may include mowing of lawn, trimming hedges, weeding, etc., as requested.
• Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks as requested.
• Performs generator testing and routine maintenance as scheduled/needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Participate in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.
• Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field and maintain current license/certification, as required.
• Attend and participate in mandatory in-services.
• Honor patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
• Comply with corporate compliance program.
• Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.
• Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
• Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
• Perform other related duties as necessary and as directed by supervisor.
