Job summary

Highlands-Rehabilitation- is seeking a maintenance associate to oversee the upkeep of a healthcare facility, ensuring grounds, equipment, and infrastructure meet quality and safety standards. Expect hands-on work, various repairs, and independent long-term projects.

The role requires physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects, with weekend availability. Prior healthcare maintenance experience and PA driver's license preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in health care of older adults preferred.
• HVAC certification preferred and valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work assignments as directed by supervisor.
• Paint facility surfaces including prep and cleanup.
• Perform routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry and repair work.

Job description

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Position requires demonstrated knowledge and skills in planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the maintenance department in accordance regulatory and company standards; maintaining the grounds in a first class condition; safely and properly maintaining facility and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures of the facility; demonstrate effective verbal and written communication in English; be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, push, sweep, lift, and stretch for extended periods; be able to frequently move heavy furniture, boxes and equipment; lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Previous work experience in the health care of the older adult preferred.

Certificate/Licenses: HVAC certification preferred. Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• 1. Carry out work assignments as directed by supervisor.
• 2. Ability to complete painting projects at facility; including surface preparation, trim work, and cleanup.
• 3. Perform routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and repair work.
• 4. Ability to safely operate various lawn, hand, and power tools, including snow blowers, drills, saws, planers, sewer snakes, etc.
• 5. Replace burned out light bulbs and ballasts on a regular basis.
• 6. Carry out scheduled service as directed in preventative maintenance program.
• 7. Perform safety surveillance to monitor potentially unsafe work areas, equipment, and practices.
• 8. Report hazardous equipment and conditions to supervisor.
• 9. Conduct daily tour of facility to check maintenance request books on each nurses' station and in kitchen, and perform needed repairs.
• 10. Ability to work independently on long-term projects.
• 11. Maintain confidentiality of resident records and respect resident rights when performing maintenance work.
• 12. Be available for work as requested on weekends.
• 13. Practices safe working habits.
