Job summary

Job Profile Summary:

Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing environment by addressing mechanical, electrical, and general facility needs. The technician works closely with the maintenance team and other departments to ensure minimal downtime and a safe, functional workplace.

Essential Job Duties:

The individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the job duties listed below.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on machinery, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and other facility systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment.
  • Assist with facility improvements, installations, and space reconfigurations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Support emergency response procedures and participate in safety drills.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs
Requirements
Qualifications:
Work Experience:
  • 1+ years’ experience of related experience
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, facilities support, or building systems preferred.
Education:
  • Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade, technical school, or college
  • Technical diploma or certification in industrial maintenance, HVAC, or electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • OSHA safety training or certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or respond to after-hours emergencies.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, and working in mechanical or outdoor environments.
