  • Review manuals and determine preventive maintenance frequency.

Job Overview

The role involves managing tools, equipment, and bench stock, conducting periodic maintenance inspections, ensuring basic safety standards are met, identifying potential hazards, and providing 24‑hour emergency maintenance. The position requires the ability to implement protocols to ensure safety measures are accomplished. Education, licensure, and experience requirements include an HS diploma or G.E.D. and four years of experience in general maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work orders with Home Managers and other staff supervisors to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with the operation of residential or center activities.
  • Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, walls, building framework, and trim.
  • Paint interior and exterior walls and trim. Install glass in windows, doors, and partitions.
  • Install items such as window shades, venetian blinds, curtain rods, wall and ceiling fans, lights, and door locks. Replace damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
  • Assure compliance with building code.
  • Develop and coordinate with the Administrator and Manager – Materials and Assets to plan for reconstruction, capital improvement, or installation of new equipment or buildings.
  • Seek bids for construction or renovation projects as appropriate.
  • Suggest cost‑saving equipment when replacement is necessary.
  • Estimate cost of parts and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance.
  • Review manufacturer’s service manuals and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance.
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with personal vehicle insurance coverage. Must maintain proficiency in company‑sponsored training and certifications.
Pre‑Employment Screening
  • Complete criminal background and registry name checks (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities).
  • Drug testing.
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required).
  • If the position requires driving, proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle will be required to provide transportation for individuals.
