Job summary

Renwick Nursing and Rehab in Joliet, IL seeks a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to perform repairs, schedule contractors, monitor facility systems, and conduct routine maintenance to ensure resident comfort and safety.

You will complete work orders, maintain grounds and equipment, keep records, and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. The role requires carpentry, plumbing, electrical skills, and reliable English communication in a busy, supportive Extended Care environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance.
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion.
• Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs and be available for after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Director, including changing light bulbs, AC filters, painting, plumbing, light carpentry, fixing sheetrock, and other maintenance duties.
• Assist with maintenance of facility areas, including grounds, fences, parking areas, furniture, appliances, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain and repair service equipment, power tools, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep preventative maintenance records and utilize a work order tracking system.
• Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment.
• Identify and resolve potential safety hazards to protect residents, visitors, and staff.

Maintenance Assistant Requirements:
