Job summary

Camp Via West in Cupertino, CA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for a permanent full-time role. You will maintain camp buildings, grounds, and outdoor spaces, and operate lawn care equipment as part of a broad range of maintenance tasks.

The position requires hands-on work outdoors, strong reliability, and the ability to work well with a team. You will support pool operations, event setups, and transport supplies as needed, contributing to a welcoming camp environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of maintenance, landscaping, facilities, construction, or related experience.

• Ability to safely operate maintenance and landscaping equipment (or willingness to learn).

Responsibilities

• Maintain camp buildings, grounds, landscaping, and outdoor spaces.
• Operate lawn care and landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chippers, and chainsaws.
• Performing general maintenance and repairs, including light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and mechanical work.
• Assisting with pool operations and equipment maintenance.
• Setting up and taking down for camp events and activities.
• Moving furniture and equipment as needed.
• Driving camp vehicles to transport campers, staff, and supplies.
• Supporting volunteer work groups and community service crews.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming camp environment.

What You\'ll Do

No two days are the same! You\'ll support the upkeep and operation of our camp by:

• Maintaining camp buildings, grounds, landscaping, and outdoor spaces

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position that requires:

• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 100 pounds
• Safely operating maintenance equipment and tools

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid California Driver\'s License
• Must be at least 21 years old to transport campers and participants
• Ability to pass DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance
• Negative TB test prior to employment
• CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and select holidays as needed
