Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking an entry-level Industrial Maintenance Apprentice in the United States. The role provides on-the-job training alongside classroom instruction to develop maintenance knowledge and skills under supervision, with potential growth as competency increases.

Initial duties emphasize learning and safe operation of equipment with supervision from experienced technicians. Expect a 1st shift during apprenticeship, with transition to off-shift as skills advance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn Electrical Construction and Installation basics.
• Learn Electrical Maintenance and Repair tasks.
• Understand and follow Safety Procedures.
• Study Electronic Controls and related systems.
• Develop Independent Problem Solving abilities.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as skills grow.
• Complete paperwork neatly and in accordance with company guidelines.
• Follow company policies including safety protocols.
• Assist with after-hours or off-shift work as needed to maintain production.

Job description

Full-time, Monday thru Friday with overtime required when necessary, including weekends.

This is an entry-level hourly position with growth potential! This position requires the apprentice to develop Industrial Maintenance knowledge and skills through on-the-job training in combination with class room instruction. Perform general maintenance and repair work with the supervision of experienced Maintenance Techs and independently as skill set increases. An apprentice will typically work a 1st Shift schedule during the apprenticeship and eventually be placed on an off-shift once it is completed.

• Strong desire to learn and grow in a state-of-the-art, fast-paced environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate ability to learn and progressively increase in knowledge and skills in the following areas:

• Electrical Construction and Installation
• Electrical Maintenance and Repair
• Safety Procedures
• Electronic Controls
• Independent Problem Solving

As knowledge and skills increase:

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs with a quick response to system and equipment failures.
• Follow-up all work in orders to ensure proper performance.
• Complete all paperwork neatly, accurately, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including adherence to safety protocols.
• Additional duties as assigned, including working after hours and off-shift hours as required to maintain production.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

MATH SKILLS

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

• Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
• Product layouts and production specifications
• Product quality specifications
• Quality standards

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

The performance of the employee will be measured as follows:

Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.

Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.

Employee relations - through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication.

Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
