Job summary

GE Appliances is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support appliance manufacturing by keeping hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment up and running. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and implement improvements while following safety and PPE requirements.

The role requires reading schematics/blueprints and operating various powered tools and equipment, including scissor lifts and forklifts.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Journeyman with 2+ years in Electrical or Mechanical, or an Associate degree with 2+ years field experience, or 8 years in industrial maintenance.
  • Able to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient in operating motorized equipment and using various hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and improve hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and service requests to ensure uptime.
  • Complete shop records and use reporting systems per procedures.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance calls from leadership and operations teams.
  • Follow safe work methods; use PPE and protect machine guards.
  • Perform welding and plumbing as needed.
  • Operate scissor lifts, forklifts and other equipment; use a wide range of tools.

It is an industrial maintenance role involving machine setup, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.PositionMaintenanceLocationUSA, Camden, SCHow You'll Create PossibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities:Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and improve hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipmentPerform preventive maintenanceComplete shop records and use reporting systems following established proceduresProvide quick response to maintenance requests and calls from maintenance leadership and manufacturing operations teamsFollow safe work methods and procedures at all times to avoid injury to self and co-workers or damage to company property. Must use of all required personal protective equipment, following safety precautions (e.g. LOTO), ensuring machine guards, etc.Perform welding and plumbing as neededFollow proper housekeeping standards to ensure clean and organized maintenance work areasOperate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, fork trucks, etc.Use a wide range of powered tools, hand tools, and vibratory tools/equipmentPosition Requirements:Mechanical aptitude – ability to understand basic mechanical concepts and relationshipsKnowledge of safe shop operation practicesGood work ethic and a positive attitude; willingness to learn new ways and meet expectations of the various maintenance assignmentsDependability; demonstrate and maintain good attendance and punctualityMust be able to follow verbal and written instructionsMinimum Qualifications:High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institutionMust possess a valid Driver's LicenseEducation and/or work experience requirements:Certified Journeyman with 2 or more years of experience in one of the following trades: Electrical or Mechanical,OR Associates Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical field with at least 2 years of current hands-on working experience,OR Minimum of 8 years of experience working in Industrial Maintenance tradesAbility to read / understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematicsAble to read blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematicsAbility to operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, fork trucks, etc.Ability to use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment.What You'll Bring to Our TeamWorking Conditions:Physical working conditions:o Wear safety attire or proper PPE dailyo Usually work indoors. All areas may not be temperature controlledo Are often exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levelso Are exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basiso Are sometimes exposed to contaminantsWork may require occasional weekend work.Physical demands of the position include: Bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, squatting, kneeling/crawling, climbing/balance (e.g. stairs, ladders, catwalks, mobile equipment), reaching at, above, and below the shoulder level, flex/extend neck, grasping, squeezing, manual dexterity (gross and fine motor), sitting , walking and standing for a long period of time.
