Job summary

System Canada is seeking an experienced IMS mainframe specialist to install and maintain IMS V11 using SMPE, and to support IMS V12/13 migrations. You will monitor IMS activity with IMF tools, collaborate with operations to meet availability targets, and assist developers on IMS-related projects.

On-call duties are required, and a strong PL/1 background is essential. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on system availability and performance, providing timely

Qualifications

• Experience installing or applying maintenance to IMS V11 using SMPE.
• Experience in IMS V12 and/or V13 migrations or upgrades.
• Experience using IMF to monitor IMS transaction response times.
• Understanding of mainframe PL/1 programming.
• Ability to provide on-call support and liaise with Operations and developers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor IMS activity during peak volumes and coordinate with Operations to meet availability goals.
• Support IMS development work and liaise with developers.
• Provide on-call coverage as required.

Job Description

• Experience with installation of or applying maintenance to IMS V11 (use of SMPE); experience in support IMS V12 and/or V13; experience in IMS migration/upgrade process;
• Experience with BMC’s IMF tool to: monitor IMS transaction response time or investigate user reported transactions problems;
• Understanding of mainframe PL/1 programming (development language);
• Ability to monitor IMS activity during peak volume days and liaise with Operations to meet business availability and performance objective;
• Ability to liaise with and provide support to developers on IMS development works;
• Availability to provide on call support and perform on call duties.
