Job summary

Accenture PLC in Seattle is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Specialist/Associate Manager to lead modernization initiatives. You will directly work on COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related mainframe tech, guiding teams and delivering high-impact transformations.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, architectural stewardship, and collaboration with architects, QA, and business analysts to drive modernization roadmaps to completion. Travel up to 100% may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years hands-on mainframe development in one or more listed technologies.
Minimum 3+ years leading or executing mainframe modernization initiatives with delivery track record.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent minimum 12 years’ work experience; associate degree requires minimum 6 years’ work experience.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across core mainframe technologies and mentor project teams.
Lead design, development, and modernization of mainframe applications with best practices.
Evaluate legacy systems and propose modernization strategies (rehosting, refactoring, re-platforming, reengineering).
Oversee implementation of modernization roadmaps from inception to go-live.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to secure sponsorship and input.
