Job summary

Regions Bank is seeking a Software Engineer to oversee application development, modification and maintenance within the Technology department. The role focuses on mainframe systems, COBOL/DB2, CICS and batch processing, with on-site work at Riverchase Center in Hoover, AL and nearby locations.

You will analyze business requirements, design and implement solutions, test software, and support production systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Five (5) years of experience in software development or related roles.

Job Description:

At Regions, the Software Engineer oversees application development, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position monitors system applications, ensures systems run smoothly, and creates reports and other documentation outlining findings/solutions. This position sits within Regions' Technology department.

Ensures compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identifies opportunities for and supports process improvements; applies disciplined change management practices
May act as a procedural expert
May lead the work of junior level associates

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
Five (5) years of experience

Candidate must be able to analyze business requirements for both large and small projects, following through with design, coding, testing, documentation and implementation with minimal supervision. Candidate must be able to work cohesively with a team, share technical information and interface with Business units and Application Development in the development and support of assigned software systems. Responsibilities also includes maintenance, development, research, and production support. 24 X 7 on-call support rotation is required.

Position requires strong COBOL/DB2 skills in Batch and CICS in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
Applicant should be able to demonstrate analytical skills, be able to multitask, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2 and MVS JCL experience is required.
Experience with TSO, ISPW, MQ, JSON, File Aid, Xpediter and Abend Aid tools is preferred. Deposits related Banking experience is a plus.
Previous experience in banking/deposits is desirable

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future . Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. The locations available for this role are Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Incentive Pay Plans:

This job may participate in an annual discretionary bonus plan.
