Job summary

Ensono is seeking a skilled Mainframe Engineer to join our team in a remote United States capacity. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM, with guidance from senior engineers.

You will work across waterfall and agile projects, handle incidents, service requests, and changes, and contribute to performance tuning, documentation, and knowledge sharing. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM; SDLC knowledge.
• Experience with version control systems and development tools.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• US Citizenship required.

• Experience with enterprise ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Service Manager, etc.) and workflows.

• Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex applications and integrations.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe apps and DB2 queries.
• Develop technical documentation (KB articles, SOPs) for business and support teams.
• Understand requirements and provide implementation/change options aligned with business needs.

About the role and what you’ll be doing:

This role requires a skilled and experienced Mainframe Developer with 3-5 Years of specialized technical experience to support, maintain, and enhance a suite of mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in various skills in mainframe technologies, middleware, databases, and DevOps practices, with a strong understanding of enterprise application support and acts as a technical lead, responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting critical mainframe applications while guiding junior team members

• Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience in enterprise-level ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Service Manager, etc.) and their operational workflows.
• Worked on waterfall and agile methodology projects; capable of handling – Incidents, Service Requests and Change Requests simultaneously.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex application and integration.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe applications and database queries.
• Develop technical documentation (Knowledge Base articles, SOPs) for business and support teams
• Understand both functional and technical requirements and provide implementation/change options aligned with business needs.

Required Qualifications

• Education; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience; Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM. Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies. Experience with version control systems and software development tools.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $97,000 to $115,000 to annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, includean annual bonus plan based on company and individual performanceand an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
