Job summary

A leading consultancy firm is seeking a Mid-Senior level Mainframe Developer to enhance operational efficiency through innovative solutions. The role requires expertise in COBOL, JCL, and other mainframe technologies. Local candidates from Plano, TX are preferred as the position involves in-person client interviews. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication skills and have hands-on coding experience. This is a contract position focused on consulting and staffing.

Qualifications

• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, IMS, CICS & DB2.
• Experience in CICS Programming including CICS Screen Programming.
• Hands-on coding development experience is mandatory.

Job Summary

• Develops and implements solutions that address complex business challenges, enhancing the ability to make data‑driven decisions and improving operational efficiency.
• Prepares architecture and design documents for complex Banking applications keeping in mind design constraints that translate to coding.
• Develops secure and high‑quality code that runs in sync with other highly efficient subsystems.
• Think out‑of‑the‑box proactively and be creative by challenging conventional approaches and contribute towards operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoots problems, works with Product Teams and other stakeholders to understand complex Requirements and be able to break them down to design/development.

Required Skills

• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, IMS, CICS & DB2.
• Experience and knowledge in CICS Programming, including knowledge of CICS Screen Programming.
• Experience/Knowledge in building and maintaining new Test regions is preferred.
• Experience coding in MQ Series & IMS DB is mandatory.
• Experience in Banking Compliance and Regulatory Platform is preferred.
• Must have hands‑on coding development experience.
• Experience with version control.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients and excellent problem‑solving skills.
