Job summary

This Building Maintenance Technician role is based at Milliken's Magnolia site in Blacksburg, SC. The technician will service facility equipment, maintain fire suppression and alarm systems, and work with outside contractors to ensure safe, efficient operation of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance, with a focus on reliability in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Experience with industrial plumbing and fire suppression/alarms.
• Familiarity with confined space procedures and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety consciousness and participate in Milliken Safety Process.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment; perform scheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Read work orders and service manuals to perform maintenance.
• Assist other engineers and maintenance staff to keep production equipment in working order.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and maintain records.
• Inform management of potential mechanical problems and hazards.
• Work with vendors and contractors as needed.

Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

This position is located at the Milliken - Magnolia site in Blacksburg, SC. The Technician reports to the Building Maintenance Engineer. This position is responsible for working safely to provide expedient service to the facility’s equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and quality performance involved with manufacturing and processing our products. The position requires the ability to service and maintain the plants fire systems to include but not limited to sprinkler systems, fire pumps, FM200, and dry powered suppression systems and devises. The position requires the ability to work with outside contractors and to learn and use the outside contractor permitting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a high level of safety consciousness and fully participate in the Milliken Safety Process
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
• Maintain plant facilities to include restrooms
• Provide scheduled maintenance repairs, inspections and audits of building maintenance equipment and maintain records as required.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of building maintenance equipment
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required equipment service
• Assist other engineering associates to perform work as required to keep production machinery and auxiliary equipment in working order
• Inform appropriate management and maintenance/production associates of potential mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
• Assist other maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting
• Other duties as requested by management

The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in the following:

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
• Industrial plumbing
• Industrial fan maintenance
• Plant chiller and cooling tower maintenance
• Fire suppression systems
• Fire alarm systems and testing
• Knowledge of confined space procedures
• Roof Inspections and maintenance
• Fabrication and Carpentry skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Able to work well with various groups of people such as vendors, customers, Milliken associates whether individually or in a team environment
• Able to work well and communicate with production associates in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting
• Able to lift and move objects of 50 pounds and be capable of using motorized equipment (fork trucks, tuggers, scissor lift and articulating boom lift, etc.)
• Ability to work from heights

Pay Rate: 22.55-25.02
