Job summary

Compass Minerals is seeking a Magnesium Chloride Production Operator to support safety, environmental, engagement, quality and production goals while loading MgCl2 brine railcars and trucks.

You will operate MgCl2 processing areas, maintain 6S standards, and assist with quality control and lab sampling.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma and experience overseeing area of responsibility.
  • PC literate; proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access; ERP navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Assures safety/operating items are completed and maintained (Safe Work Permits, LOTO, 6S, safety inspections).
  • Capable of operating MgCl2 processing areas including bagging and loading; forklift certification required.
  • Ensures quality parameters for MgCl2 Flake and Brine are met; lab samples delivered to QC Lab.
  • Completes daily sample analyses each shift and writes Work Orders for corrective actions.
  • Maintains 6S standards and inventory accuracy in the warehouse.
  • Oversees highway brine production process and ensures specifications and data are complete.
  • Conducts monthly safety inspections and safety observations; maintains KPI accuracy.
  • Works rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Summary:

Under the direction of the supervisor, the primary role of the Magnesium Chloride Production Operator is to assure Safety, Environmental, Engagement, Quality and Production goals are met in all assigned MgCl2 products and the loading of MgCl2 brine railcars and trucks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assures that the following safety/operating items are completed/maintained (Safe Work Permits, Equipment Check Lists, LOTO Procedures, 6S Standards, Safety Inspections, Safety Observations)

  • Capable of operating equipment and completing all tasks required in the MgCl2 processing / DE Sulfating areas including bagging, and loading areas; forklift certification required.

  • Assures that quality parameters for MgCl2 Flake and Brine are met.

  • Assures that lab samples are taken and delivered to the Quality Control Lab as required.

  • Completes daily sample analyses each shift as required

  • Completes daily equipment checks and writes Work Orders for required corrective actions

  • Maintains 6s standards and utilizes 6s audits to continuously improve

  • Fills in for operating positions, as required

  • Maintains the MgCl2 warehouse so that all products are organized, safely stored and that inventories are accurate

  • Oversees the operation of the highway brine production process and assures products are within outlined specifications, stored correctly and required information is completed.

  • Conduct monthly safety inspections as required.

  • Assures safety observations are completed as required

  • Maintains accuracy and timeliness for department KPI’s.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and/or holidays as required.

Education and Experience

Must have a high school diploma and previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to effectively oversee the assigned area of responsibility and perform the tasks listed below and above. Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information. Must be able to effectively navigate an ERP system to issue work requests and review inventory.
