Machinist
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating precision CNC and manual machining equipment in a hands‑on manufacturing environment. This role is well‑suited for experienced machinists with strong mechanical aptitude and a solid technical background. In this position, you will support the production of high‑quality, close‑tolerance parts and tooling, ensuring all work meets exact specifications and quality standards while playing a key role in maintaining efficient production processes in the workplace.
Hourly Rate: $20.90 - $24.65
Weekend Shift Available
- Thursday Midnight – 4:00am
- Friday – Saturday 4:00pm – 4:00am
Must be available to work mandatory overtime.
Responsibilities
- Operate and set up CNC and manual machining equipment under supervision.
- Assist in troubleshooting basic tooling and machining issues as skills develop.
- Support the production of close‑tolerance fixtures, tools, and gages.
- Read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings (training provided).
- Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to inspect parts (training provided).
- Follow work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Communicate production or equipment issues verbally or in writing to supervisors and team members, including cross‑shift operators.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform basic routine machine maintenance as trained.
- Assist with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts as skills develop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Machining experience required.
- Technical school courses, mechanical hobbies, or similar experience are a plus.
- Strong mechanical or technical aptitude; enjoys working with tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work to very close tolerances.
- Must be able to work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.
- Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, measurements).
- Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Capable of using all types of measuring equipment used in checking machined parts.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and maintaining an orderly workspace.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes, etc.).
- Ability to work all overtime as assigned.
