Job description

Silgan Closures in Richmond, Indiana is recruiting for a Tool & Die Maker. Silgan Closures is a leading global supplier of closure systems made of metal or plastic for food and beverages packed in glass and plastic containers.

Responsibilities:

1. Work from drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, and charts including making layouts and sketches as required.
2. Fabricate, anneal, temper, harden, and finish parts to precise specifications.
3. Set up, lubricate, and operate metal cutting, forming, and grinding machines.
4. Perform hand operations employing hand tools.
5. Inspect and test equipment and machines to determine need for service and maintenance.
6. Layout, fabricate, inspect, install, test, assemble, dismantle, disassemble, repair and fit machines, equipment, parts, dies, and tools.
7. Follow all plant food safety procedures.

The qualified candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• A minimum of 2-5 years machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
• The ability to read and apply information from blueprints and other technical manuals.
• Skilled in the use of hand & power tools, welding equipment, various measuring devices, machine shop tools, etc.
