1st Shift, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Starting Pay Rate, $22.34/hr.

Machinist I at The Toro Company:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and devices. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain manufacturing equipment. Supports the engineering group in the design, development, and testing of new and existing products by designing and fabricating assembly fixtures, gauges, injection molds, and miscellaneous parts to produce products to company specifications.

What Will You Do?

  • Setup, adjust, and operate general machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and computer numerical control (CNC) to perform precision machining operations.

  • Assemble, repair and fabricate metal parts per engineering drawings.

  • Review blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

  • Assemble parts into sub-units or complete units.

  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on equipment.

  • Consult with engineering regarding design, layout, and detail regarding design projects.

  • Participate in design review meetings.

What Do You Need?

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 2-5 years with CNC and/or other machine shops, i.e. lathes, mills, grinders, etc. equipment a plus.

  • Machine shop safety.Gas and arc welders.Machine shop tools, i.e., lathes, mills, grinders, etc.Ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints/specifications.Drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.Machine shop standard concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Must have the ability to effectively use a computer and associated software.Computer-aided design (CAD) desirable.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and comprehend instructions and interpret documents such as blueprints, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety rules, and operating instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to engineering, sales, and marketing other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Powered industrial truck operator.

  • Must have the ability to effectively use various electronic, hand, and power tools, pneumatic tools, mechanical equipment, and metal fabrication.Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.

  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
