Job summary

Baxter International Inc. in Puerto Rico is seeking an Operator III - Machine L-5 to operate automated manufacturing equipment and perform setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance to support production of life-sustaining products.

The role requires an associate degree in mechanics or electronics, and fluency in English and Spanish, with a willingness to work various shifts in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in mechanics, electronics, die stamping, with 0–1 years of related experience.
  • Ability to quickly analyze malfunctions and identify solutions.
  • Strong English and Spanish communication skills.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Operate automatic and semi-automatic manufacturing equipment and perform adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor equipment within operating parameters and report issues.
  • Supply materials to machines and document materials per procedures.
  • Perform setup changes following equipment manuals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety per EHS policies.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Automation and Process Engineering teams on process improvements.
  • Record production data and downtime indicators.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operar maquinaria automática y/o semiautomática en los procesos de manufactura y realizar ajustes y reparaciones según sean necesarios para lograr su óptimo rendimiento y productividad.
  • Operar maquinaria automática y / o semiautomática de manufactura controlando su funcionamiento dentro de los parámetros de operación establecidos por procedimientos, especificaciones y regulaciones de seguridad y ambiental.
  • Observar el proceso de manufacturas y los paneles de controles electromecánicos del equipo y realizar ajustes a los controles o reparaciones cuando sean necesarias. Notificar de condiciones de la máquina o equipo que pudieran afectar su buen funcionamiento.
  • Suplir materiales a las maquinas asignadas. Inspeccionar, empacar y documentar el material según los procedimientos de la Planta. Coordinar y monitorear el uso de materiales en las áreas del departamento.
  • Realizar los “set-up” de los cambios de código siguiendo los manuales correspondientes del equipo y las especificaciones y procedimientos del producto.
  • Cumplir con los estandares de la operación tales como pero no limitados a producción, “scrap”, “down time”, tiempo de cambios de código u otros establecidos por el departamento.
  • Realizar trabajos de mantenimiento rutinario, preventivo y correctivo tales como limpieza, engrase y lubricación de la maquinaria.
  • Realizar los mantenimientos preventivos (PM) en el tiempo establecido siguiendo el procedimiento SOP aplicable.
  • Responsable de mantener y asegurar las herramientas que se le proveen.
  • Consultar y participar activamente junto con el personal de Automation, de Ingeniería de Proceso (Process and Products) y/o del Departamento de Calidad en el análisis del proceso de manufactura para identificar áreas de oportunidad de mejoras al mismo. Esto incluye pero no se limita a : Asistencia a las reuniones, participar de las actividades de mejoras al proceso y documentar información requerida por el proyecto.
  • Documentar por medios manuales (ej. Checker Chart) y/o electrónicos (ej. POMS, MMS 3) la información requerida por especificaciones y procedimientos. Esto incluye pero no se limita a parámetros, lotes, producciones y otras.
  • Mantener información escrita o graficas de producción, “down time”, “setup time” o cualquier otro indicador que sea establecido por máquina con el propósito de monitorear su productividad o establecer tendencias en el mismo.
  • Inspeccionar y evaluar los materiales y el producto para detectar o prevenir posibles defectos antes de usar los materiales o de retirar el producto terminado.
  • Mantener limpia, organizada y libre de riesgos su área de trabajo. Participar activamente de iniciativas dirigidas a ese propósito como por ejemplo SOL 5’s (Seguridad Orden y Limpieza).
  • Cumplir en todo momento con las reglas de la Compañía, de ambiental, salud y seguridad (EHS). Utilizar los equipos de seguridad: gafas, guantes u otro equipo de protección requeridos para realizar sus funciones.
What You’ll Bring
  • Grado Asociado o su equivalente en estudios de mecánica, electrónica, troquelaría y 0 - 1 años de experiencia en mecánica, electrónica, troquelaría u otra actividad relacionada con el funcionamiento de equipos automáticos o semiautomáticos. Conocimientos en Medición (Caliper, Micrómetro, Regla, etc.).
  • Establece prioridad de trabajos. Capacidad para analizar y distinguir situaciones de mal funcionamiento para identificar posibles causas y soluciones. Identificar desviaciones en los parámetros de procesos, parar la maquinaria si es necesario, hacer las correcciones o gestionar ayuda necesaria para sus correcciones. Disponibilidad para trabajar en otros turnos y tiempo extras cuando sea requerido por el supervisor del departamento. Seguir instrucciones y procedimientos requeridos. Trabajar con un mínimo de supervisión.
  • Buenas destrezas de comunicación en Inglés y Español.
  • Trabajo Mediano: Ejerce de 20 lbs hasta 50 lbs. de fuerza ocasionalmente, y/o de 10 lbs. hasta 25lbs. de fuerza frecuentemente, y/o una cantidad insignificante mayor 10 lbs. de fuerza constantemente para levantar, cargar, empujar, halar y mover objetos. Las demandas de los requerimientos físicos exceden los del Trabajo Liviano.
