Job summary

LEMO GROUP in California seeks an experienced machinist to support R&D through prototype tooling, CAM code development, and precision manufacturing of tooling and fixtures.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, setting up and programming CNC equipment (4-axis mill, lathe with live tooling), and maintaining shop floor tooling while ensuring ISO 13485 documentation per project needs. Ten years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED with machine tool technology program
  • Ten years related experience
  • Reading engineering drawings and interpreting dimensions
  • Knowledge of CNC G-code and CAD-CAM techniques
  • Ability to interpret and follow safety rules
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Responsibilities

  • Collaborative project team member able to provide machining guidance to the Design Engineering staff and operations personnel on new products
  • Identify new equipment needs in support of the advancement of new products
  • Manufacture tooling and fixtures including mold tools
  • Set up, program and operate CNC equipment including 4 axis mill, lathe with live tooling and sub-spindles, including sliding headstock configuration
  • Read engineering drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances
  • Perform equipment maintenance as defined by Maintenance & Task Schedule Binder
  • Support new equipment qualifications through IQOQPQ techniques
  • Manage and maintain shop floor tooling
  • Identify new equipment requirements to meet new product challenges
  • Provide cost and material estimates for prototypes, tooling, and short run production
  • Develop CAM code in support of new and existing products
  • Responsible for inspecting and assuring quality of machined components
  • Responsible for ISO 13485 documentation per specific project requirements
  • Set up and operate various manual equipment including mills, lathes, grinders and drill-press
  • Assist in assembly tool development for existing & new product designs

Job description

Supports advanced development of new products and processes by creating prototypes & tooling in support of R&D. The work includes programming CAM equipment, designing and building tools, dies, jigs in the advancement of products and processes.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent and machine tool technology program
  • Ten (10) years related experience
  • Working knowledge of model shop equipment and tools
  • Working knowledge of precision inspection tools to verify prototype and production components
  • Knowledge of CNC "G-code" and current CAD-CAM techniques and software
  • Ability to interpret and follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational skills, and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products
