Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Machinist – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be supporting our Copper Crossing Value Stream (CXVS) facility.

Role Description & Responsibilities

As a Machinist in our Case Center of Excellence, you will work on and inspect high‑value rocket motor case manufacturing activities utilizing machining centers and hand operations. You will set up and operate CNC equipment to machine parts per specification while performing in‑process and final inspections, maintaining equipment, and ensuring tooling readiness. Training of other operators on CNC setup, operation, and maintenance is also required.

Shift Information

The selected individual can be placed on either A‑Shift or B‑Shift:

• A‑Shift: Weekday day shift (12‑hour shifts, rotating Thursdays).
• B‑Shift: Weekday night shift (12‑hour shifts, rotating Thursdays).

Overtime may be required for both shifts.

Basic Qualifications – Level 2

Candidate must have 2+ years CNC 3‑5‑axis machining experience, extensive manual machine experience, and proficiency in GD&T. They should be able to read and interpret production specifications, assembly drawings, and engineering blueprints, and perform complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations.

• Extensive experience running manual machines and performing set‑ups.
• Experience with Fanuc controller preferred.
• Capability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues arising during machining.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Basic Qualifications – Level 3

Candidate must have 4+ years CNC 3‑5‑axis machining experience, extensive manual machine experience, and proficiency in GD&T. They should also be able to read and interpret production specifications, assembly drawings, and engineering blueprints, and perform complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations.

• Extensive experience running manual machines and performing set‑ups.
• Experience with Fanuc controller preferred.
• Capability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues arising during machining.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Experience Preferred

• Machinist certification from an accredited trade school.

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $44,400.00 – $74,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $52,700.00 – $87,900.00

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and in certain positions, long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays, and paid time off.
