Job summary

Covington Aircraft Engines, Inc. in Catoosa, OK is seeking a Machinist / Lead for a full-time, Monday–Friday role from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

You will support the manager by leading floor supervisor work, managing team schedules, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and helping train junior operators to meet production goals. You will set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, program CNC equipment, contribute to shop layout with lean initiatives, manage inventory, and uphold quality through

Job description

Position: Machinist / Lead
Location: Catoosa, OK
Fulltime Position – Mon-Fri – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Covington Aircraft is seeking a highly skilled manufacturing professional who operates, programs, and sets up precision machine tools (CNC mills and lathes). This position will support the manager in leading floor supervisor work, managing team schedules, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and helping train junior operators to ensure production goals. It will serve as the primary frontline machinist support resource.

Contribute to Shop Setup

• Aid in identifying best tooling, tooling providers, and outside support vendors.
• Aid in shop lay-out with the understanding of lean manufacturing and maximizing efficiency.
• Aid in development of production procedures.

Effective and Proficient Programing and Machining Skills

• NC (Manual) Lathe and Mill Operations.
• Has knowledge in Programing CNC equipment.
• Can effectively Operate CNC equipment.
• Can effectively utilize support vendors.

Accurate Parts Inventory Management

• Utilize inventory management software.
• Perform regular inventory counts and reconciliations.
• Set minimum stock levels based on usage patterns.

Quality Assurance of Machined Parts

• Implement regular inspections and testing procedures on finished parts.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Document and analyze quality data to identify trends and improve processes.
• Maintain efforts for continual quality and production improvements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Sit or stand for extended periods of time, up to entire length of shift.
• Exert moderate to heavy physical effort with lifting requirement up to 50 pounds.
• Strong range of motion.
• Stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend.
• Read instructions and all measuring devices.
• Work with appropriate tooling for this position.
• Physically able to access all areas of the plant and grounds.

• Must have professional communication skills.
• Must present a professional appearance in accordance with Company policies.
• Have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or the ability to learn.
• Open to opportunities to learn new responsibilities as when presented.
• Follow any additional instruction given by the area supervisor or site manager.
• Regular and Punctual job attendance is required for this position.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license.
