Job summary

We seek an experienced Machinist to perform end-to-end setup and precision machining on Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori, or Okuma equipment, delivering tight-tolerance parts in a clean, safe shop. You will read blueprints, select tools, and inspect parts to ensure consistent quality within schedule. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of CNC experience with strong precision and quality focus.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and metalworking drawings.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and measurement tools.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, on-site shop environment.
  • Must be physically able to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a loud setting.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies operations and materials per work orders and supervisor guidance.
  • Sets up CNC equipment using modern techniques and ensures tight tolerances.
  • Reads blueprints and machines parts to specification.
  • Selects and locates tools; troubleshoots tooling issues on programs.
  • Produces parts within the required timeframe and inspects quality.
  • Completes paperwork accurately and maintains clean work area.
  • Performs routine autonomous maintenance on machines.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

The Machinist lis responsible for end-to-end setup and precision machining of piece parts on modern CNC equipment. This individual will set up and run one of our Haas, Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma Horizontal or Vertical mills and/or Turning centers and machine tight tolerance piece parts. This team member needs to have an elevated understanding of the full machining process, including but not limited to quality, productivity and cost. You will work in a clean, air-conditioned shop where efficiency and safety are paramount.

Essential Job Duties
  • Verifies operations to be performed and material to be used on each job as directed by the standard work, or the appropriate Supervisor or Manager.
  • Sets up CNC equipment using modern techniques
  • Ability to read blueprints and machine precision piece parts accordingly.
  • Ability to select and locate established tools for the job and trouble shoot tooling issues on existing programs.
  • Support problem-solving small group activities.
  • Operates machines and produces consistent quality parts to specifications in the time frame allowed.
  • Uses measuring devices and blueprints to inspect parts for quality.
  • Uses hand tools, grinders, abrasives and other special deburring tools to remove sharp edges from machine surfaces.
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork at completion of job.
  • Perform Inspections as called out on work order
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area.
  • Performs routine autonomous maintenance at machines.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-year Technical Degree preferred
Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: 4+ years of CNC experience
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Technical Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proven understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, metric measurements, measuring devices and inspection equipment, shop math, problem solving, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Attributes: High level of creativity for new product development and strong attention to detail.
  • Physical: Ability to stand for long periods, lift 50 lbs, and work in a loud environment.
Work Environment
  • Works in manufacturing environment with all daily activities taking place within our Machine Shop
  • May require periodic travel
  • All work is to be performed on site during normal business

Expected Compensation Range: Non-Exempt- $26-$34 per hour

Specialty Manufacturing is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position. Based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, compensation could fall slightly below or above the stated range.
