Job summary

Custom Staffing is partnering with a local Manufacturer to add a Machinist/Industrial Maintenance Technician to their team in Prospect, OH. This temp-to-hire role focuses on keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will troubleshoot, program, modify, and support PLC-controlled systems, perform preventive maintenance, and participate in changeovers and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, I/O drawings, and machine documentation.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.
• Mechanical inclination and a curious, problem-solving mindset.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or electrical controls documentation is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools and measure with calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to work within tight tolerances.
• Previous forklift operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
• Perform PLC programming, logic edits, backups, downloads, and documentation as needed.
• Use PLC software, HMIs, electrical schematics, and machine documentation to identify root causes of downtime.
• Troubleshoot sensors, switches, relays, drives, motors, controls, and related electrical components.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and supporting systems.
• Assist with equipment changeovers, startups, and process adjustments to support production needs.
• Support continuous improvement projects by identifying automation, controls, reliability, and safety improvements.
• Disassemble, evaluate, repair, and reassemble machinery and components when mechanical work is required.
• Operate machining tools and a forklift safely when required to support maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance notes, PLC documentation, and a clean, organized work environment.

Custom Staffing is partnering with a local Manufacturer to add a Machinist/Industrial Maintenance Technician to their team in Prospect, OH. This is a temp to hire position with benefits after one calendar month of being hired on. They offer 401K with a Safe Harbor company match and are a profit share company.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be confident troubleshooting, programming, modifying, and supporting PLC-controlled equipment, while also bringing mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and a hands-on approach to keeping production machinery running safely and efficiently. This role supports automated manufacturing equipment through controls diagnostics, preventive maintenance, repairs, changeovers, and continuous improvement projects.

Pay:

Will be determined based on experience.

Hours

Monday-Friday 7am - 3:30pm or 8am - 4:30pm (Weekends and OT as needed)

Key Responsibilities:

Machining Experience:

• Operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment to support maintenance repairs and equipment improvements
• Fabricate, modify, and repair machine components, brackets, fixtures, guards, and production support tooling
• Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances
• Read basic prints, sketches, and measurements to produce or modify parts accurately
• Maintain safe machinery practices, proper tool selection, and clean shop organization while supporting production uptime
