Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is seeking a Machinist for our Axis, Alabama facility. The role involves operating lathes, mills, drills and specialty machines from drawings, ensuring precise dimensions and tolerances, and inspecting finished parts.

Candidate should have 5–8 years of related experience, High School or equivalent, and Crane/Forklift certification with in-house training. Valid driver’s license and safety gear compliance are required.

Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent.
• 5 - 8 years of related work experience.
• Crane/Forklift Certification - In-house training provided to obtain certifications.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Proper use of Safety Equipment - Safety boots, hard hat, fall protection, safety glasses, ear plugs.
• Proper use of tools: Inside and Outside Micrometers, Depth Micrometer, Calipers, Bore Gages, Other General Hand Tools.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating and profile machines; specialty Faro Laser Machine.
• Works from drawings and written instructions.
• Requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.
• Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined.
• Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance.
• May provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced machinists.
• Daily maintenance check of machine.
• Other work may be assigned at Management’s discretion.
