Job summary

GE Vernova's Greenville Gas Turbine site is hiring a Machinist II to set up and operate CNC mills, drills, grinders and lathes to fabricate and repair gas turbine components. You will read blueprints, interpret instructions, select tooling, and inspect parts with micrometers and calipers to ensure tolerances and quality.

This role requires at least 1 year of machining experience in a manufacturing environment, the ability to lift 40 lbs, and the legal right to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of machining experience with equipment such as mills, drills, grinders, lathes, or similar in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, or equivalent advanced machining training plus relevant hands-on experience.
• Experience following work instructions and specifications to perform complex machining operations and maintain required tolerances.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify conformance of finished parts.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and wear required personal protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Successful completion of an assessment for the job class, background check, and drug screen.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this role.

Responsibilities

• Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines.
• Identify and correct routine machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
• Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
• Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in your area of responsibility.

What you’ll do

• Operate material-moving equipment such as forklifts and jib or gantry cranes, as trained.
• Identify and correct routine machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
• Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
• Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in your area of responsibility.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
