Job summary

GE Vernova’s Greenville Gas Turbine site is hiring a Machinist II to support precision machining and assembly of turbine components. You will read blueprints, set up and operate CNC equipment, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances with careful use of measurement tools.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of machining experience with equipment such as mills, drills, grinders, lathes, or similar in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, or equivalent advanced machining training plus relevant hands-on experience.
  • Experience following work instructions and specifications to perform complex machining operations and maintain required tolerances.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify conformance of finished parts.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and wear required personal protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of an assessment for the job class, background check, and drug screen.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard machine set up and operate a variety of CNC machines and tools used in the manufacture and repair of gas turbine components.
  • Perform machining operations ranging from standard to moderately complex using equipment such as mills, drills, grinders, broaches, horizontal and vertical machining centers, EDM, and lathes.
  • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, process sheets, and specifications to produce parts to required tolerances.
  • Select and use appropriate tooling, fixtures, and measuring devices to support safe, accurate, and efficient machining.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines.
  • Operate material‑moving equipment such as forklifts and jib or gantry cranes, as trained.
  • Identify and correct routine machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
  • Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in your area of responsibility.

Machinist II (01A)

Pay Rate: $31.663–$32.919 per hour
Eligible for a $1.00/hour shift premium on 2nd and 3rd shift.
